Presentation
Council’s Communications and Marketing Division presents an educational, informative and interactive program aimed at primary school students in Years 5/6. The program covers the roles performed by Federal, State and Local governments with a focus on local government.

Council Worker Visit
The school can select up to two council departments to present their role in local government to the students, such as protecting the environment and waste and sustainability.

Candidate Campaign Speeches
Up to 4 students selected by the teachers will run for 'Mayor for the Day'. They will present their campaign speech, speaking about how they can make their community a better place for our residents.

Student Voting
Each student will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidate for Mayor.

Elected Student Mayor
The 'Mayor for the Day' will be announced and will wear the official Mayoral robe and chains. They will also be presented with a prize!

Council Meeting Roleplay
Students participate in a mock Council meeting in the Council Chambers where selected students play the role of the Mayor, Councillors and residents.

Mayor visits
The Fairfield City Mayor visits during the session to meet the students and answer questions they may have about local government and what life is like as Mayor.
Every student will also receive a participation certificate.
