THE POSITION:
Council is seeking highly motivated person for the position of Resource Recovery Officer on a full-time basis. The role entails both fieldwork and office-based tasks. As a Resource Recovery Officer, you will be responsible for conducting inspections on Recycling and Food and Garden bins, managing data entry and recordkeeping, and organising educational activities to encourage residents to participate in recycling, waste minimisation, and resource recovery initiatives. Additionally, your focus will extend to both single houses and residential flat buildings.
We are seeking an experienced leader to join our Waste Services Team on a permanent, full-time basis to spearhead this initiative.
This role is a crucial role, you will establish and implement the contamination management program, ensuring community engagement to reduce contamination across the recycling streams.
You will develop and execute strategies, policies, and educational programs that promote sustainable waste management practices and enhance resource recovery efforts.
You will oversee contamination audits. The primary focus of this role is to work closely with households to ensure that their waste bins are presented correctly, free of contamination, and not overflowing.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to
- Assist and support the Waste & Cleansing departments in managing Domestic, Recycling, FOGO and Clean-up services.
- Develop and implement projects and waste reduction strategies and programs.
- Provide support to the Waste and Cleansing unit in relation to waste administration and customer service.
- Respond to queries from members of the public.
- Manage waste data collection and reporting.
- Liaise with community and stakeholders on queries and issues relating to waste services provided by Council.
ESSENTIAL:
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of the current management of domestic waste, especially with residential flat buildings
- Demonstrated project management skills including the planning, promotion and management of programs targeting specific waste issues
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated experience in database management and analysis
- Current drivers licence
DESIRABLE:
- Community development or engagement skills to change behaviour
- Experience in Local Government, and relevant legislations
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Full-time permanent position, 70 hours/fortnight
- The position is a Grade 4, salary range is $75,390 p.a. with progression to $83,213 p.a. with performance progression to $88,308 p.a.
