THE POSITION:
Council has an exciting opportunity for a person with initiative and drive to join our Governance and Legal Division. You will provide administrative and project support that assists in delivering a range of complex and routine governance activities.
The role is responsible for delivering projects and developing policies and procedures. In particular, conduct research, contribute to governance projects and policy development, co-ordinate the donation funds and councillor reimbursements and maintain corporate databases.
ESSENTIAL:
The successful candidate will have:
- Appropriate qualifications in business administration or experience in a governance role
- Extensive project management skills including demonstrated delivery of projects
- Demonstrated policy development, review and implementation
- Ability to record meeting notes or minutes
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to exercise initiative, prioritise, meet deadlines and work autonomously
- Strong computer skills and the ability to work with a range of electronic office programs
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Research skills to collect and analyse information
DESIRABLE:
- Sound working knowledge of meeting practice and protocols in local government
- Ability to work with various legislation and maintain Public Registers
- Proficiency is using MS Office software at an intermediate level.
- Previous experience in the use of InfoCouncil business paper system or similar
- Previous experience in the use of Objective records management system or similar
- Analytical skills with the ability to evaluate information against set criteria
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Permanent position, 70 hours per fortnight
- This position is a Grade 5, salary range is $83,963 pa with progression to $92,679 pa on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $98,354 pa
