The State and Federal governments have proposed a rail addition at Cabramatta that will see a loss of 11 car parking spots in Broomfield Street.
The availability of any parking in Cabramatta is crucial for residents, shoppers and for businesses to thrive. That is why I’m advocating for residents to the State and Federal governments to ensure they replace any car parking spots they are proposing to remove.
The State and Federal governments are proposing the Cabramatta Loop Project, which is the construction of a 1.3km freight rail passing-loop between Cabramatta and Warwick Farm stations. The project would see 11 commuter car parking spaces in Cabramatta lost along Broomfield Street.
I have received unanimous support from my Councillor colleagues in advocating for our residents. We will be speaking up to ensure any car parking spaces lost are replaced by the State and Federal governments.
I will ensure that Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack as well as the State Minister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance are fully aware of our concerns about the impacts to our community.
Cabramatta is a thriving and growing town centre, with a high demand for parking.
While this is an important national project, it should not come at the expense of car parking for our local residents, shoppers and businesses and we will fight to make sure the State and Federal governments replace any car parking spots they propose to remove.
