Recognising community service

One of the many strengths of our City is the people, and each year I am privileged to present Australia Day Community Awards to remarkable people from our City.
Fairfield City Council takes great pride in acknowledging the generous contributions of our residents and their ongoing commitment to our unique and diverse community.
We would like to hear from you if you know of someone who you think deserves to win this prestigious award.
Nominations are now open for the 2019 awards and I encourage you to think about the inspirational people from our City that you think deserve to be recognised.
We have many high achievers in our community who work tirelessly to make our City great, and inspire others to do the same. The Australia Day Community Awards are a great opportunity to thank these amazing people for all they do in one of four categories:
- Fairfield City Citizen of the Year (aged 25 and above)
- Fairfield City Young Citizen of the Year (aged 12-24)
- Fairfield City Sports Achiever of the Year (aged 12 and above)
- Fairfield City Volunteer of the Year (aged 12 and above)
The 2018 winners included Desmond Ettingshausen who has volunteered for local athletics for almost 50 years, Rowena Tran for her dedicated work in youth and multicultural areas, Krystyna Whittaker for volunteer work for society’s marginalised for over 30 years and Simaima Taufa for her outstanding achievements in rugby league and community service.
