More parking at the Crescent

Providing more car parking across the City is one of my priorities and I was pleased to open additional parking this week at the Crescent between Fairfield Train Station and Hamilton Road roundabout.

In total the area now has 39 car parking spots, which is more than double what was previously available there. It all adds to the more than 1000 extra car parking spaces created across the City in the past four years.

At the Crescent we used the existing car parking space better to provide the extra parking at this premium space near the rail station and businesses.

More parking in and near our major city centres and towns is important to help boost the local economy. More parking makes it easier for residents to get around the City to do business, access shops, services and facilities and visit friends and family.

Extra car parking is a top 10 priority of residents in the community's 2016-2026 Fairfield City Plan. The building of 1000 extra car parking spaces is due to Council's ongoing focus on meeting the community's priorities.

In March, I opened 65 new car parking spaces at Christie Street in Prairiewood.

Residents visiting Braeside and Fairfield hospitals, or Aquatopia water park in summer peak times can now make use of the extra parking. The 65 car parking spaces will take pressure off parking along Prairievale Rd.

Council has recently also created extra car parking spaces at Bonnyrigg Heights, Canley Vale, Canley Heights, Cabramatta City Centre, Prairiewood and Fairfield City Centre and in the next year we plan to expand Dutton Plaza in Cabramatta Town Centre with another level of car parking.

Council will continue to look for opportunities to provide more car parking to meet the community's desire to get about our towns and City Centres more easily.
