Council's Illuminate event on New Year's Eve is set to be a great success with tens of thousands of residents able to witness the biggest fireworks display in South West Sydney.

Families across our City will once again be treated to a spectacular display as Fairfield Council's

New Year's Eve event, Illuminate, is back to deliver one of the biggest fireworks events South West Sydney.

Illuminate will unite families across the City in one giant celebration as fireworks are launched

from nine different sites at 9pm, which will provide the opportunity for Fairfield City residents to celebrate New Year's Eve and watch them from their very own backyards.

I'd like to thank our sponsoring clubs: Cabramatta Bowling Club, Cabra-Vale Diggers Club, Canley Heights RSL & Sporting Club, Club Marconi, Fairfield RSL, Mount Pritchard and District Community Club (Mounties), Smithfield RSL and St Johns Park Bowling Club. Families attending Calmsley Hill City Farm (Council's event site) will be treated to live entertainment, free amusement rides, children's activities and much more.

This is a ticketed event. If you wish to attend please email Council at illuminate@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au.

This is my last column for this year. It has been a year of many achievements, in particular, infrastructure such as Aquatopia, upgrade of Wetherill Street and Dutton Lane car park.

I'm excited about such future projects as the Showground upgrade and Seniors Living Precinct.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all families a happy, safe and prosperous Christmas break. Don't forget we have a extra weekly recycle bin collection for households between 26 December and 6 January.

Enjoy your time to be together and focus and celebrate your families.
