Get healthy with our Gyms In Parks program

Published on 12 October 2022

The health and wellbeing of our residents is one of the most important challenges we face as a community and I encourage you to get out and about and active with our FREE Gyms in Parks program to improve both your mental and physical health.

The popular program runs four times a year with the next one starting in a few weeks. We run the programs to help you get motivated and develop a regular exercise schedule that will give you life-long benefits.

Our trained fitness instructors will teach you how to use the free fitness equipment in our parks and also simple, effective exercises that you can do by yourself or with friends and family once the program has finished.

Registrations are now open for the upcoming program, which will be held at Brenan Park, Smithfield every Tuesday and Thursday morning, 9.30-10.30am, over seven weeks.

This free program is for Fairfield City residents only and numbers are limited, so you need to register quickly.

As well as the Gyms in Park program, you can use any of our outdoor fitness equipment located across the City. There are 26 outdoor fitness gyms around our City and we are planning to build another four next year, meaning there is one only a short walk or drive away from every household.

There are a significant number of people in Fairfield City who do not get the recommended amount of physical activity for good health. A healthy physical schedule also keeps our minds active and healthy too.

That’s why Council is investing more than $7.9 million this year on fitness equipment, play grounds, sporting courts and sportsfield upgrades so that local families have plenty of opportunity to get active and healthy together.
