Extra recycling at Christmas
Published on 12 December 2017
Council is pleased to again offer you an additional FREE recycling bin pick-up over Christmas and New Year.
We know this is a busy time for families and we want to help you free-up your recycling bin from extra wrapping paper and other recyclable waste.
Between 25 December 2017 and 5 January 2018, you can take out both your recycling and waste bins on your normal garbage pick-up days.
Your fortnightly recycling service will then continue as normal from Monday 8 January 2018.
This extra recycling service is one of many extra Council waste services, including the free green waste voucher that is delivered to residents with rates notices in July and the annual Spring Clean-Up and Chemical CleanOut events at Fairfield Showground.
We've also introduced the "Green Team", Council's streetscape cleaning team that maintains and beautify our City's 350km of main roads. The team works to spruce up and clean round-a-bouts and traffic islands, slash overgrown verges so they are neat, prune trees, remove litter and increase street sweeping on major thoroughfares to have our City gleaming.
This service is in addition to existing street sweeping and cleaning provided throughout the City.
These initiatives and more are in response to one of our community's top 10 priorities, a desire for “A Clean and Attractive Place”.
Council wants to ensure our city always looks great. Let's work together so we can continue to be proud of our beautiful City, keeping it a clean and attractive place to live, work and play.
