The mayor announcing extra kerbside pickup

We all want to live, work and play in a clean City - a City we can continue to be proud of as a place to raise a family and enjoy our natural environment. That’s why we provide a range of waste services, to make it easy for you to work with us to help keep our City clean.

I’m pleased to let you know that from Sunday 1 September, 2024 you will be able to book in an extra two free kerbside pick ups per year, as part of a 12-month trial. Every household will get four free collections in the financial year at no charge, saving you having to pay tip fees. So if you haven’t used any, now is the time to book to clear that clutter from your home. To book simply go online at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/kerbsidecleanup and choose an available day that best suits you. Our kerbside pick-up service is ideal for disposing of bulky items that don’t fit in your weekly red-lidded waste bin.

Our 3-bin waste service provides a solution for general waste, organic material like food and garden waste and recyclable items. The addition of the new green FOGO bin to our suite of waste bin services is to help give families a hassle-free solution to dispose of your garden waste and food scraps. If you’re running low on liners, you can pick up some more for free at our Administration Centre in Wakeley, or at any of our leisure centres and libraries. Limit 1 liner roll per household. Replacement liners only available to households with a green FOGO bin and kitchen caddy. Go to https://www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/Services/Waste-Services for a full list of what can and can’t go in each bin.

We are once again hosting the popular FREE Spring Clean Drop-off Day at Fairfield Showground on Sunday 25 August from 7am to 3.30pm. You can take this opportunity to get rid of those unwanted goods – old furniture, electrical items such as TVs, fridges and computers, as well as bundled, tied or bagged garden waste.

Also, don’t forget the Chemical CleanOut and E-waste Collection Day is coming up on Sunday 22 September from 9am to 3.30pm – where you can safely dispose of chemical and electronic waste for free – also at Fairfield Showground. Visit our website for a full list of items.

These collection days are a win-win, helping families save money in disposal costs, and ensuring the chemicals and e-waste are disposed of safely, stopping chemicals going to landfill and polluting our environment.

Council is also making it easier for you to do a garden clean up and save money with the free garden waste voucher that was included for rates payers in your July rates notice.

Every year over Christmas/New Year, we also provide an extra recycling bin collection to help families dispose of Christmas wrapping paper, food packaging and boxes.

Our City belongs to all of us. I encourage you to use all of our waste services and let’s continue to work together to keep our City clean.
