Grandparents play a vital role in our families and wider community. They bring wisdom and care from their life experience.

Council proudly holds a free annual Grandparents Day celebration in honour of grandparents across our City and I encourage families of all generations to come along to Fairfield City Museum & Gallery on Sunday 29 October for free family fun.

There will be a DJ, multiple Vintage Village tours and a performance by the Older Women’s Network Theatre Group.

Children will enjoy a visit from Paw Patrol characters, a magic show and exciting craft activities.

This annual event has become an increasingly unique and special day for the community to come together and celebrate everything our grandparents have done for us, our families and our wider community.

The skills, life experience and wisdom of our older residents are invaluable to younger members of the community and for our future.

We acknowledge the hard work of those who have gone before us and the opportunities they have provided for an improved quality of life.

Fairfield City Museum & Gallery is at 634 The Horsley Drive, Smithfield, and there is parking off Oxford Street.

I look forward to seeing you there for a wonderful day that brings families together.
