Celebrating NSW Seniors Festival in our City
Published on 03 February 2023
We want to recognise the important role and contribution seniors make to our community, so we are pleased to host a range of free Seniors Week activities to celebrate the NSW Seniors Festival.
The Seniors Week Expo will be held on Tuesday 28 February from 10am-2pm at Fairfield Showground. This free event encourages seniors to get out and participate in community life, while learning about local services and programs that encourage social engagement; and ways to stay connected to the community.
The expo is a fun-filled afternoon of presentations, lucky door prizes, information stalls, activities, and entertainment. A free sausage sizzle will be available for the first 500 seniors through the door! There will also be food trucks to purchase food.
Come along and make new friends or catch up with old ones. The event is free but book your tickets at Council’s Administration Centre or online at https://bit.ly/3HJv03s
Seniors Week is also being celebrated in Councils libraries with a decoupage picture frame and introduction to qigong workshop. For more information on these workshops or to register, call 9725 0333.
Also coming up this weekend is the Lunar New Year ‘Year of the Cat and Rabbit’. Celebrations continue this Saturday 04 February from 11am to 8pm followed by the Blessing of Fairfield City and the community at Cabramatta on Saturday 11 February.
Saturday, 04 February will see a full line-up of family activities and entertainment including a visit from the god of wealth, caricature drawings, face painting, balloon twisting, a CareFlight flight simulator and much more at Freedom Plaza’s Mekong Activation Zone. Celebrations will continue into the evening under the beautiful lantern lights.
I hope to see you there as we continue Lunar New Year celebrations as one of the major events on our calendar.
