Your Council offers many services that make Fairfield City a great place to live, but perhaps one of the more important services is what we offer your children.
Our Children and Family Services department is a leader in quality early education and care for young children in the Fairfield City area.
Caring for 1,244 children from 1,071 families, Children and Family Services is the largest not-for-profit provider in the area, providing a number of flexible early education and care options that focus on high-quality services that are accessible and affordable for all families.
The majority of our services are rated "exceeding" the National Quality Standard. To receive this rating, "exceeding" results must be obtained in at least four of seven quality areas:
- Educational program and practice
- Children's health and safety
- Physical environment
- Staffing arrangements
- Relationships with children
- Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
- Leadership and service management.
This means parents can be assured their children will receive the best possible care and learning outcomes for their children.
There is a variety of care available for children ages 0 to five years, from long day care, Family Day Care (where children are cared for in small groups in accredited private homes), to pre-school care. We also offer Fairstart Early Intervention, which provides specialised support and services for young children with additional needs.
Children and Family Services' educational programs use children's interests and strengths as building blocks for their learning. The programs are play-based, because we believe kids should have fun while they learn through play!
