Aquatopia's outstanding success
Published on 01 May 2018
Thank you to all the local families who have helped make this season such a success. More than 60,000 people visited Aquatopia this season.
Council built the water park in response the community's call for more affordable activities for children and young people in our City and it's fantastic that so many of you have taken the time to visit and experience the fun of the park.
As a thank you, Council last Sunday opened the park for free, so that everyone could enjoy the last day of the season.
I am looking forward to sharing the next season with you, including some big new attractions to make Aquatopia even more fun for the whole family.
Over the winter months we will be installing the Fishpipe, which is a big rotating ball filled with water that residents can jump into and get pummelled around – it's a bit like being inside a giant washing machine.
Council has also started planning for a new 20-metre tall speed slide. It's double the height of the existing slide and will host six speed lanes so that families and friends can race each other to the bottom.
Be prepared as it will be exhilaratingly fast and provide serious heart in the mouth experiences. This multi-lane racing slide will definitely be for the thrill seekers in the family.
We are also investigating the possibility of wave pool in the future and we'll be building more cabanas and barbecues to meet demand. The cabanas have been very popular, so make sure you book early for your next party.
Council is proud it has been able to deliver an affordable family friendly waterpark which has been visited by residents from across the whole region.
