I’m excited to announce that our new synthetic playing field at Fairfield Showground is nearly ready to use.

The synthetic field is designed for the highest level of competition but will be accessible to everyone in the community, from grassroots sporting clubs, to professional coaching academies.

Council is now accepting expressions of interest from anyone who wishes to use it, from grassroots sporting clubs, to not-for-profit and professional coaching academies.

The field will be available to hire from 9am-9pm, seven days a week from mid-January.

Council is making a big investment into sports and culture, making sure that we get people out and active and healthy. We want to provide the best facilities for local sports teams as well as for professional organisations to be based in the heart of our City at Fairfield Showground.

We have a lot of talented sportspeople in our community and we want them to have access to the facilities they need to develop into tomorrow’s champions.

The pitch is 111 metres long by 70 metres wide and can be divided into halves and quarters. It will allow sporting clubs to train and compete in all weather conditions while providing a high quality and hard-wearing playing surface. It will mean that training and sporting fixtures are less likely to be impacted by the weather.

We want as many players and clubs as possible to use this new facility, which is part of the developing sports and cultural precinct that Council is developing at the Showground.

Expressions of interest forms are available at https://www.fairfieldshowground.com.au/facilities/sporting-fields-synthetic-football-field/.
