What is the Moon Festival? 

The Moon Festival is a traditional Southeast Asian harvest celebration, which is held on the full moon in Autumn each year.

The Moon Festival was born from the moon and the celebration of the harvest combined. Ancient cultures believed that the movement of the moon had a close relationship with the changes of the seasons and with agricultural production.

Each Southeast Asian culture has its own unique legend for the Moon Festival, which has been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. 


What are the steps to become a stallholder at the Cabramatta Moon Festival? 

Applications for stallholders will open in late April after the ANZAC Day Public Holiday - this can be found on our website under the 'Stallholder Expression of Interest' tab.

What are the steps to become a performer at the Cabramatta Moon Festival? 

Applications for performers are now open and will close on Tuesday 11 June 2024 at 10:00pm. The performer Expression of Interest application can be found on our website under the 'Performer Expression of Interest'  tab.

How can I get to the Cabramatta Moon Festival?

Public transport to the festival will be available on event day by boarding a train to Cabramatta Train Station.

Cabramatta Train Station falls on:

  • T3 Bankstown
  • T5 Cumberland
  • T2 Inner West and Southlines

PLEASE NOTE: the train ride is a 50 minute station from Central Train Station.

It is highly recommended to use public transport on the day of the Cabramatta Moon Festival for easy access to the festival at Cabramatta Town Centre.

Where is the best viewing point for fireworks?

The best views for fireworks at the Cabramatta Moon Festival would be at the following locations:

  • Railway Parade
  • Park Road
  • Cabramatta Road West
  • Arthur Street
  • John Street

Are pets allowed at the Cabramatta Moon Festival?

For the safety of your pet, it is best advised to leave your pet at home away from large crowds and loud noises.

Please ensure to keep your pets safe at home during the fireworks display at 8PM.

In the event of wet weather, the event site will be assessed to determine the suitability to continue the event and program.
