Children get in touch with nature

Fairfield City's children are in for a treat in the October school holidays with a wide range of free and interesting environmental workshops.
The popular annual Enviro Bootcamp is on again for school children aged 5-12.
Enviro Bootcamp has different fun and interactive workshops each day over the two weeks. Parents of young people can register their children for all the workshops or just the ones that interest them.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the Enviro Bootcamp comprises nine fascinating free workshops at the Nalawala Sustainability Hub, Fairfield Showground.
"The bootcamp is a popular annual event and I encourage school aged children to experience the fun interactive workshops that will show you some of the interesting and fascinating facts about our local environment," Mayor Carbone said.
"Children can repurpose clothes and jewellery to make something new and exciting to take home and wear, turn clean waste into art, go for a bush walk, take beautiful nature photographs, have a barbecue or discover the critters in our creeks.
"Each day's workshop is stand-alone and different, so there is sure to be something to interest you."
Registration is required as spaces are limited. For more information or to book a place visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/envirobootcamp.
