NSW Health has opened a FREE pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic at Fairfield Community Centre and Hall.
The clinic will run from Tuesday 12 May to Saturday 16 May, 9.30am to 4pm.
Fairfield Community Centre and Hall is located at 25 Barbara Street, Fairfield. Off street parking is available next to the hall on Barbara Street.
NSW Health is advising anyone with a fever, cough, sore/scratchy throat or shortness of breath to be tested. No referrals or appointments are required.
NSW Health is aiming for an average of 8,000 tests per day before they can be certain the virus is under control.
Mayor Carbone encouraged residents who have even mild symptoms to get themselves tested.
“We are very fortunate that because of the great work of the community, our City has so far not been heavily impacted by Coronavirus.
“But there is only one way to be sure the virus is not among us, and that is for people with even the mildest symptoms to be tested. Fairfield City Council is working with NSW Health to make this happen in our City.
“COVID-19 can present with little or no symptoms, or it can have potentially deadly symptoms. That is why I am encouraging anyone who has even mild symptoms, to come and be tested. Symptoms include a sore or scratchy throat, fever, cough or shortness of breath.”
“I am proud of how our community has responded to the challenge of social distancing and added hygiene, with our suburbs so far avoiding the worst of COVID-19. But we cannot become complacent.”
NSW Health will have bilingual community educators on hand to help answer any questions and provide advice in English, Arabic and Assyrian.
Residents can also get tested for FREE at Fairfield Hospital from 10am to 5.30pm weekdays and 10am to 3pm on weekends and public holidays.
