Join us and Curiously West Film Club for our free 5-week videography workshop series at PYT Fairfield and volunteer as a member of the film crew at Fairfield City Council's Bring It On! Youth Festival 2025 alongside the pros. DINNER PROVIDED!
What you learn:
This free workshop series will give you a taster of what it's like to be an event videographer at a festival. During each of the 5 weeks you learn about using camera and film equipment, how the pros do event videography and experience what it's like being on a crew.
These workshops are part of the annual Bring It On! Youth Festival program for Youth Week on 13 April - all participants will have the opportunity to put what you've learnt into practice at the Festival as the youth Film Crew supporting our professional videographer!
Workshop and Festival Dates:
Sessions run 5:30pm-7:30pm at PYT Fairfield (19 Harris St, Fairfield) across 5 days in March to April 2025.
The workshops will build up towards the Bring It On! Festival at the Fairfield Showground
- Session 1: Thurs 13 March 2025
- Session 2: Thurs 20 March 2025
- Session 3: Thurs 27 March 2025
- Session 4: Tues 1 April 2025
- Session 5: Thurs 3 April 2025
- Bring It On! Festival: Sunday 13 April 2025 (2pm-8pm)
About the mentors: Curiously West Film Club
Curiously West Film Club is a Western Sydney based filmmaking club supported by CuriousWorks and PYT Fairfield. It provides free fortnightly filmmaking workshops to help creatives feel empowered to tell stories regardless socioeconomic background. Create short videos, have fun, and learn from each other in a collaborative creative community.
These workshops will be led by Curiously West lead artist Addy Fong and a selection or other senior Curiously West filmmakers.
Who can register?
- To register for the workshops, you must be aged between 12-24. These workshops are best for skill levels ranging from beginner to intermediate.
- As part of Fairfield City Council's local Youth Week program, these workshops are open to people living in and around the Fairfield City area. Priority will be given to those living in a suburb in the Fairfield Local Government Area.
About the Bring It On! Youth Festival:
The Bring It On! Youth Festival is Fairfield City's annual major Youth Week event featuring local musicians, dance, competitions, activities and more. It is driven by young people in Fairfield City & the Fairfield Youth Advisory Committee and has been running since 2003.
