So Tell Me About Your Work
Tell Me About Your Work focused on assisting creatives to develop and deliver a successful pitch to generate paid opportunities and resources to sustain creative practice. The workshop was facilitated by western Sydney film maker Bina Bhattacharya and Jane Stratton, CEO Think and Do Tank Foundation. Creatives were encouraged to pitch ideas, Shark Tank style.
Bina Bhattacharya is an award-winning filmmaker based in western Sydney. She runs a successful production company, Gemme de la Femme Pictures, specialising in scripted and factual content that reflects modern, multicultural Australia. A bona fide hustler, Bina was able to raise finance to direct her first feature film through a mix of crowdfunding, sponsorship, savvy film financing and leveraging her vast community and industry contacts. Her feature, From All Sides, is a dark suburban satire about a multiracial family living in western Sydney exploring race, class tension and sexuality scheduled for release in 2024.
Jane Stratton is the CEO of the Think+DO Tank Foundation, an organisation she founded in 2013. Jane has an accomplished background in commercial and public interest law, and social policy. She has worked for leading rights-based organisations including Human Rights Watch, UNHCR, International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, Public Interest Advocacy Centre and the Australian Human Rights Commission. Jane’s intelligent and empathetic approach has fostered her reputation as a courageous leader at the forefront of collaborative work with communities, inspiring those within them and beyond them to broaden the horizon of what is possible.
