Equal Employment Opportunity
We are committed in providing a workplace which is free from discrimination. We do this by promoting diversity and fostering a positive working environment. We strive to maintain a culture where everyone is treated fairly and mutual respect applies. We aim to ensure that employment decisions are made based on merit and without discrimination.
Employee Assistance Program
We provide confidential, professional and free counselling support to all our employees. We do this through an independent company called Converge International.
Smoking in the Workplace
Fairfield City Council is committed to the promotion of health and well-being of all Council staff. We endorse the right of an individual to work in a smoke free environment. All areas under the control of Fairfield City Council, other than ‘Designated Smoking Areas’, are regarded as Smoke Free Areas. This includes all inside areas, all vehicles, all outside areas or facilities.
Bullying and Harassment
We are committed to providing a workplace where people are treated with fairness, dignity and respect. We ensure that policies, procedures and actions reflect the importance we place on providing a safe and happy workplace for all employees at Fairfield City Council and the community. Everyone must treat each other with dignity, courtesy and respect. It is the responsibility of all managers and employees to uphold these values.
Alcohol and other Drugs
We want staff to work safely, in a safe place. To assist with this, we have an Appropriate Workplace Behaviour (Drug and Alcohol) Internal Policy and Procedure. Employees at work should not be affected by alcohol or other drugs that may affect the way they perform their work.
