Council has given the international monument near Fairfield Station a facelift creating an oasis for workers and visitors while also giving a good impression of our city centre for rail passengers arriving at Fairfield Station or passing through.
Upgrade works included new flagpoles, the addition of a universally accessible footpath and taxi stand, plus new seating, paving and surrounding landscaped areas.
The Stimson Memorial Drinking Fountain was restored and relocated to its primary location as part of this project. Planning now underway to restore and return the LJ Friend Clock Tower to this site.
