Mayor Frank Carbone was first elected as a councillor to Fairfield City Council in September 2008. He was then popularly elected as Mayor of Fairfield City in 2012 and then again in the 2016 and 2021 local government elections.
Mayor Carbone is a proud local who was born and raised in Fairfield.
He ran a local business for almost 20 years and has worked closely with the people of Fairfield City to develop positive community and local business relationships.
Advocacy
Mayor Frank Carbone has established himself as a voice for western Sydney residents, advocating for issues including:
- upgrades to Fairfield Hospital (achieving a budgetary commitment for a major upgrade)
- council amalgamations (successfully avoiding amalgamation with neighbouring councils)
- housing and planning issues

- cost of living
- distribution of funding for infrastructure and the

Redevelopment of Fairfield Showground
An unusued trotting track, the Showground has been redeveloped for the whole community to use, including:

- Events awning
- Multipurpose amenities building
- FIFA sportsfield
- Synthetic football pitch
- New pavilion with event spaces and seating
- Deerbush Park all-abilities playground
- Off-leash dog parks
- Walking and cycling paths throughout
- People’s Globe precinct with Australian flag, recognition of Fairfield residents’ heritage and memory walk pavers
Outdoor leisure
Upgrade and development of ‘super parks’ and smaller parks including:
- Fairfield Adventure Park
- Deerbush Park all-abilities playground
- Koonoona Park
- Bareena Park
- Carrawood Park
- Fairfield Heights Park
- Bonnyrigg Park
- Endeavour Park (under construction)
- Avenel Park (under construction)
- Development of walking tracks in parks across the City
- Conversion of unused tennis court to futsal courts in Emerson Park
- Upgraded the amenities buildings at all sportsfields
- Construction and expansion of Aquatopia Water Park at Prairiewood Leisure Centre, including 10 and 20 metre high giant waterslides, the adventure aqua tower, toddler pool, Wave Rider body board simulator and the gigantic 55-metre wave pool
- Introduced free entry to swimming pools for pensioners
Roads and infrastructure
- Construction of Dutton Plaza shopping centre including 2 car parks
- Built new car parks at:
- Canley Heights
- Canley Vale
- Fairfield
- Prairiewood
- Smithfield Road widening and upgrading
- Wetherill Street upgrade
Beautification of the City
- Installed suburb banners including lighting and landscaping, to promote special events and instil pride
- Beautification of roundabouts and intersections with landscaping
- Installed Christmas and Easter lights at roundabouts and intersections
- Introduced the ‘Green Team’ to monitor streets to keep them clean
Health, education and community services
- Construction of Fairfield Youth and Community Centre
- Construction of Canley Heights Community Centre
- The Mayor donated his Mayoral vehicle allowance to introduce a free City Connect bus for residents and visitors
- New Fairfield library
- Fairfield City HQ – a community hub and co-working support space for local entrepreneurs and businesses
Waste services
- Introduced the green bin FOGO service, collecting garden waste and food waste
- Introduced on-demand kerbside pick-ups, initially at two per year, increased to four per year
