The year begins in earnest

Children are back to school this week and the holiday period ends for many.
Good luck to all children starting school for the first time this year and for those who are transitioning into high school.
For those of you returning back to work whether that is continuing to work from home or going in to the office, stay safe on the roads and when dropping the children off to school and on your commute to work.
As many of you know, over the holiday period there was a huge increase in COVID-19 cases across NSW. This led to staff shortages across a variety of industries.
Fairfield City worked really hard to minimise disruption to the community with staff absent due to Covid and being on holidays.
While there were some slight delays in our garbage collection and kerbside pick-up, we were pleased that services including leisure centres, libraries and child care centres all remained open to the public.
A big thank you to staff and management that ensured services continued for the community despite being under immense pressure and having significant staff absences. With holidays ending and school returning, we will have more staff back at work and things are getting back on track.
We are getting back to business with major projects continuing across our City but in particular the beautification program, planting more trees and shrubs on roundabouts and key locations.
Our aim is making the City a better place to live, work, play and raise a family. The maintenance of footpaths, roads, parks and gardens are one of the many ways we are enhancing our City.
