The Future of Fairfield City

Have your say on Fairfield City's future.

This is the most significant reform in New South Wales Local Government history.

The State Government has asked Fairfield City Council to comment on the option of amalgamating Fairfield and Liverpool councils, as part of the Government's reform package.

This will create one City with a future estimated population of more than 500,000.

It is my personal view that any plans to amalgamate two cities - that are already two of the biggest in Sydney - should be a decision a united community should make, not politicians or governments on their own.

Council feels it's important for you the residents to be aware of these options, and to have your say.

Council currently is one of the most efficient councils as rated by NSW Treasury Corporation (TCorp). No forced amalgamation should proceed unless there are clear benefits identified for Fairfield residents.

I strongly believe that our residents should be at the forefront in the decision-making for the City's future, and I want to hear your views.

Your views will form part of Council's submission to the NSW Government.

Please take the time to complete the survey and send it back to Council.

There are a number of different ways to access the survey.

New edition of City Life

Look out for the special edition of City Life in your mailbox this week.

This quarter, City Life includes the resident survey to have your say on amalgamations.

In addition to this it is still filled with important news about Council's initiatives and projects. In particular two of my recent initiatives, Fairfield's inaugural New Year's Eve celebrations and a wonderful project that will see a suite of improvements transform our libraries.

There are Easter and school holiday activities for the children and ideas for where to go for some fun adventures in Fairfield. Also, don't forget about our award winning Bring It On! Festival on Sunday 19 April, headlined by Marlisa Punzalan, 2014 X-Factor winner. It is a great day out for the youth of our City and I look forward to enjoying the day with them.
