This week's spotlight is on Cabravale Ward.

The ward is in the south-eastern section of our LGA and encompasses seven suburbs: Lansvale, Canley Vale, Mt Pritchard, Wakeley, Cabramatta West, Canley Heights and Cabramatta.

The snapshot is a small glimpse of the great works in progress across the suburbs to continually improve our City. These works include some fantastic investments and infrastructure to meet the needs of our residents now and into the future.

Improvements have been achieved for car parking over the past few years and works are continuing. The Canley Vale commuter car park will open on 7 August and will provide residents access to all day parking close to the shops and railway station.

Major road upgrades to the Cumberland Highway are scheduled to improve access with the installation of right turn bays at John Street, St Johns Road and Hamilton Road to increase the capacity of the right turn bays on the Cumberland Highway.

Our parks and open spaces are also being upgraded.

Adams Park in Canley Vale has received a number of new assets including the recently opened walking paths. The wharf at Lansvale Park will receive an upgrade and work is continuing on Orphan School Creek.

A suite of recent improvements are transforming our libraries into a cutting edge, modern and technologically sophisticated service for our residents now and into the future. iPad trials started last week at the Cabramatta

Library and all libraries now have free Wi-Fi, computer use and Press Reader providing access to 3,000 newspapers in 60 languages.

Council proudly delivers these works investing in your future and celebrating the rich history of the area. I look forward to seeing these investments unveiled over the coming year for the benefit of all residents.
