Services for all your festive waste disposal needs
Published on 05 December 2024
As we approach the festive season, our waste services are ramping up to help you clear the clutter and get ready for celebrations.
This is the perfect time for a spring clean, especially if you're hosting family and friends for Christmas. We've recently increased our Kerbside Clean-ups, adding two more per household each year. Now, single-unit dwellings, including houses, townhouses and duplexes, are entitled to four free pick-ups a year.
With a Kerbside Clean-up, you can place bulky items out for collection like electronic and household items, white goods, metal appliances, smaller household items in boxes or bags and large green waste like thick branches – all the items that are too big or too numerous for your regular bin service.
I encourage you to use these extra services to get rid of unwanted goods from your house for free and avoid expensive tip fees. For more information and to book visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/kerbsidecleanup.
Additionally, we will again be doing an extra recycling bin collection from 23 December 2024 to 3 January 2025 for all your Christmas wrapping paper, food packaging, glass and boxes. Simply put both your yellow and red bins out together on your usual red bin collection day between these dates. Check your waste calendars for details.
In June, we introduced the green FOGO bin, and I want to thank everyone for embracing this service enthusiastically. By putting garden waste and food scraps in your green bin, you reduce the amount of waste going to expensive landfill, saving money and keeping our waste charges affordable.
So far, we’ve collected an average of 1,000 tonnes of garden clippings and food scraps per month since the service started. This is a great effort with the green waste recycled into compost for parks and sports fields. Keep up the good work!

Let's work together to keep our community clean and ready for the festive season.
