Recycling waste and avoiding landfill
Published on 05 October 2022
We all want to live, work and play in a clean City - a City we can continue to be proud of as a place to raise a family and enjoy our natural environment. That’s why we provide many waste services, to make it easy for you to work with us to help keep our City clean.
Recently we held our popular Spring Clean Drop-off event where more than a 1000 cars disposed of 113 tonnes of waste including 86 tonnes of bulky waste, 10 tonnes of metals, 270 mattresses and almost 8 tonnes of e-waste – one of our best years ever.
We recycle as much of the waste as possible to avoid it going to landfill.
If you couldn’t get to the Spring Clean, you can still dispose of your bulky waste items for free as each household also receives two kerbside pick-ups a year at no charge, saving you having to pay tip fees. You can plan ahead and book them now. Simply go to www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/kerbsidecleanup and search for an available day in your area that’s suitable and convenient for you.
You can also use our Recycling Drop Off Centre, to clear your home of recyclable waste, such as televisions, computers, kitchen appliances, gas cylinders and white goods free of charge. Located on the corner of Widemere and Davis roads, Wetherill Park, the centre is open every Saturday, 8am-3.30pm.
I know that with spring and the warmer weather we all have more garden waste too with mowing, trimming and pruning hitting high gear. You can drop off your garden waste at the Recycling Centre too for a small fee, or for free, if you use the Green Voucher that came on your July rate notice.
I encourage you to use all of our waste services and let’s continue to work together to keep our City clean and protect our environment.
