Christmas is a very special time of year when families come together and celebrate what is important to them.

Council loves to join with our residents in spreading festive cheer and this holiday season our famous and ever-popular Christmas lights at roundabouts are delighting residents and evening commuters. The lights look amazing at night, making the evening trip home a little more joyous.

You can check out the lights at the intersections of Restwell and Mimosa roads, Bossley Park; Prairie Vale and Moonlight roads, Prairiewood; Melbourne and Edensor roads, Bonnyrigg; Canley Vale and Bulls roads, Wakeley; Court Road and The Crescent, Fairfield; Smithfield Road and Polding Street, Smithfield; and Nelson Street and Station Street, Fairfield.

Lights have also been set up along the Horsley Drive leading up to Horsley Park Reserve. We have Christmas trees on Edensor Road near the Smithfield Road intersection and Cooks Square, Cabramatta, as well as our giant tree in Epoch Plaza, Fairfield.

Around the City you will also see our Christmas banners and decorations in our town and city centres, including Cabramatta, Canley Heights and Fairfield, and decorated shop fronts in Canley Vale.

This year we also held our inaugural Fairfield City Christmas Lights Competition. Thank you everyone for entering and for bringing Christmas cheer to your streets and neighbourhoods. We had dozens of amazing entries, which you can view on Council’s website and Facebook page, or take the family out and enjoy in person.

The celebrations continue on 31 December with Illuminate at Fairfield Showground. Gates open at 5pm. Tickets are on sale at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/illuminate for just $3. Come along, enjoy the fun and please bring a gold coin to donate to bushfire relief, which Council will match.

From everyone here at Council, I wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year!
