Council is investing in the future of its sportsground facilities with more than $10 million allocated to the Sportsfields Upgrades Program.
My key priority as Mayor has been to contribute to the future of our City's infrastructure to provide residents with the opportunity to live, work and play in a better place.
One of the many priorities Council has targeted has been the health and fitness of our residents. Council has more than 100km of walking paths and cycleways throughout our City and has an ongoing program to extend these annually.
Fairfield City Council is doing its best to ensure you have plenty of opportunities to undertake free, fun and healthy activities at any time of the day.
Our vision is to have numerous cost effective fitness facilities evenly distributed across the City so no matter where you live you, it will be easily accessible.
Dozens of our parks have received upgrades involving new play and/or outdoor gym equipment, refurbished change rooms and Everybody Walking paths.
Wilson Road Reserve opened recently after it was transformed with a $1.5 million makeover that includes new dog off-leash areas, outdoor gym and play equipment, Everybody Walking paths, toilets, a futsal court, landscaping and parking.
Sports Clubs have advised Council of the need to upgrade their buildings and facilities, so Council is spending about $1 million each year to deliver these upgrades, which have been requested by the community.
At Adams Park, in Canley Vale, and Powhatan Park, in Greenfield Heights, work has started on upgrading the amenities blocks.
Work has been completed to provide a new playground at Prout Park, in Mount Pritchard, with stage 2 Fitness Equipment proposed for delivery in 2017-18.
Work at Brenan Park has started to add fitness equipment to its existing playground.
Since I was elected as Mayor in 2013, Council has invested heavily in making Fairfield a better place to live for families – all while being financially responsible and providing high-quality services for our residents and ratepayers.
