Health and wellbeing project for Cabravale
Published on 06 March 2019
I am excited to announce that Council will shortly begin work on a Master Plan to transform Cabravale Leisure Centre into a Health and Wellbeing Precinct.
We have created a wonderful facility with Aquatopia, to encourage families and young people to get out and get active. Now we focus our attention to health and wellbeing for seniors, people living with a disability and people recovering from illness, before we then look at Fairfield Leisure Centre.
This project will provide specialist services to meet the needs of our ageing community. Fairfield City also has one of the highest numbers of people living with a disability in NSW.
Council is committed to helping improve the health and wellbeing of residents and provide spaces where everybody can be healthy and active, regardless of their age or ability.
Services could include a hydrotherapy pool, spa, sauna and steam rooms; rehabilitation gym; and doctors and counsellors’ rooms. I look forward to building such a unique and vital facility for the people of Fairfield City.
Cabramatta Loop
The Federal Government has announced the proposed construction of a 1.3 km freight train crossing loop between Cabramatta and Warwick Farm. The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is responsible for the works.
As Mayor, I understand the need for the project from a state and national economic perspective, but I want to make sure any negative impacts on our community are addressed.
Council is working with the ARTC to ensure any parking spaces lost during and after construction are replaced close by, within or close to the Cabramatta town centre. Council is also engaged with the ARTC to ensure businesses and residents are kept informed on the works.
The ARTC will hold a community information drop-in centre next Wednesday 13 March, 4-7pm at Cabravale Leisure Centre. The aim of the drop-ins is to explain the project, answer your questions and listen to your concerns.
You can also call 1300 550 402 or email enviroline@artc.com.au to arrange a time to speak to the ARTC team directly.
