Fairfield City Council wishes all residents a Happy Easter and a safe long weekend.

Easter is a sombre, holy time for many Christian families.

Some will be attending church services to reflect and rejoice on the Easter story, but for all it's an opportunity to get together with family members and take a break from their busy lives.

Council is hosting some wonderful family friendly events in and around our City centres over the Easter period. One feature is the arrival of the Easter Bunny in Cabramatta and Fairfield city centres on Thursday.

The Easter Bunny will hop by Cabramatta City Centre to hand out chocolate eggs and goodies to children between 10am and 1pm. In Fairfield City Centre, he'll be visiting Ware, Spencer and Smart streets between 11am and 1pm with the help of an Easter Fairy.

At Tuesday night's monthly Council meeting, I put forward a Mayoral Minute asking for Councillors to support an initiative for the Easter Bunny to visit Fairfield Adventure Park for an Easter Egg Hunt.

Families will be invited to join us at the Adventure Park to hunt for special eggs that will contain some great prize vouchers.

Keep an eye on Council's website (www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/news) or our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/fairfieldcity/) for more details.

For families who are going away and driving throughout the break, don't forget that double demerit points will be in force over the Easter long weekend.

Please be sure to Stop, Revive and Survive by using Driver Reviver sites along your route. Take a break every two hours to avoid fatigue so you and your family not only have a happy Easter weekend, but also to ensure you arrive at your destination and return home safe.
