Grandparents Day 2015
Published on 21 October 2015
This Sunday 25 October, we will be celebrating a very important event in Fairfield City. Grandparents Day has become a special day for many of our residents and we are proud to be hosting a free event at the Fairfield Adventure Park from 11am to 2.30pm.
This family fun day will be an opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a free sausage sizzle lunch, ice-creams and family-friendly activities, all within the >surrounds of the new Fairfield Adventure Park, one of the best playgrounds in South West Sydney.
Grandparents Day is an opportunity to honour the incredible contribution of grandparents and their irreplaceable role in families and the wider community. The skills, life experience and wisdom of our older residents are invaluable. I appreciate and value the contributions the grandparents make to our community.
They are custodians of culture, language, family heritage, memories and providers of love and care to their children and grandchildren.
Grandparents Day is also an opportunity for children and grandchildren to spend some quality time with their grandparents to show their love and respect.
Local Fairfield City resident and President of the Nonni Club, Giuseppe (Joe) Commisso is the NSW Ambassador for Grandparents Day this year. Joe's role in promoting Grandparents Day has been important in its success and we are pleased he has been recognised for his efforts.
I encourage all families to join us on Sunday, bring along some chairs and picnic rugs to the Adventure Park and connect with the community as we acknowledge the important role grandparents play.
