Giving back to the community
Published on 04 July 2018
At the June 2018 Council Meeting, a number of councillors and I chose to donate our 2.5% Councillor fee increase to the Councillors' Donations Fund, which provides assistance to worthy causes in our community.
The spirit of giving is one of the things that make Fairfield City such a wonderful place. Many locals give up their time to volunteer in the community, and I am proud, along with my fellow Councillors, to be able to provide financial assistance to community groups and not-for-profit organisations through these funds.
The Councillors' Donations Fund supports a variety of benevolent community activities which are not generally targeted under Council's other donation funds.
Since 2012, my fellow Councillors and I have donated over $25,000 from our fees to the Councillors' Donations Fund.
I am passionate and grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community through local community groups, who are committed to making Fairfield a great place to live, work and visit.
I wish to thank Councillors Grippaudo, Khoshaba, Le, Rohan, Saliba, Wong, Yilmaz, Kazi and Azzo who have joined me and agreed to donate their increase in fees back to the community.
Details on criteria, eligibility and how to apply for funding from Council's various donation funds are available on the website: www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au.
