This is an important nation-building project which aims to take trucks off our road, reducing traffic congestion for all of us. With the future airport at Badgery's Creek it will also create opportunities for the region's businesses and industry.

The Government is seeking feedback on the first corridor between Luddenham and the M7, which runs through our rural lands.

The plans also show a future corridor which will run through the Smithfield Wetherill Park Industrial Estate to Yennora before connecting to the existing freight line at Leightonfield.

Rest assured, we are advocating to minimise any impacts on our rural, industrial and residential areas and to make sure that our community interests come first.

I will also advocate that the State Government enables the freight line to carry passenger trains to ferry the 18,000 people who work in Wetherill Park and Smithfield to work. This will grow employment opportunities and improve the way our residents travel to work and move through our City – taking even more cars and trucks off our roads.

To give you an idea of the importance of the industrial estate, it contributes 1.3% to our nation's GDP. That is a lot of money. Currently, 3,000 businesses call the estate home.
