Free storm debris pick-up and drop-off

Last Thursday's thunderstorm had a big impact on Fairfield City with trees and power lines brought down from the strong winds.

To help Fairfield City residents in the clean-up, Council will waive the applicable fee for leaving green waste at the Recycling Drop Off Centre this Saturday (23 January).

Council crews will also pick up large branches if they are left outside homes. Call Council on 9725 0222 to request pick-up.

Council will continue to work on cleaning and repairing the damage and I ask all residents and businesses to remain patient as we continue this work.

900th citizenship ceremony

Council will welcome 10 new Australians at our 900th citizenship ceremony as part of the Australia Day Community Awards this Friday.

Fairfield municipality's first citizenship ceremony was held on Friday 16 July 1954, when eight people took the citizenship oath.

In 62 years, an estimated 90,000 people have taken the Australian Citizenship Pledge in Fairfield City.

Celebrate Australia Day

On Australia Day Eve (Monday 25 January), Canley Heights town centre will have entertainment and fireworks to end the evening.

On Australia Day (Tuesday 26 January), Fairfield Park will host free activities for the whole family. Fairfield Youth and Community Centre and the Fairfield Adventure Park will have DJs and giveaways, as well as indoor rock climbing, trampolines and some of the best play equipment in South West Sydney.

Fairfield and Prairiewood leisure centres will have pool parties with free entry from 10am plus entertainment, DJs and giveaways.
