I am committed to meeting the needs of our residents. One of the priorities identified by our community is a desire for "A Clean and Attractive Place".

Residents identified that minimising litter, dumped rubbish and graffiti are areas they would like prioritised in order to have "A Clean and Attractive Place".

Last Council meeting I proposed an initiative, a "Spring Clean" event, to help us continue to meet residents' priorities. The Spring Clean, to be held in either August or

September this year, will be an opportunity for residents to dispose of unwanted goods or bulky items correctly and for free.

The event will be held at Fairfield Showground and will be an opportunity for residents to load up their car boot or box trailer, and drop off items from around the home that are no longer needed.

Accepted items will include white goods, old lounge suites, mattresses and garden prunings.

Look out for a voucher with details of the Spring Clean day when you receive your rates notice later in the year.

I also recently announced a new, multi-skilled, special street cleaning team to focus on cleaning up major Council roads and streets as they travel throughout the City. The team would also act as a one-stop shop for basic maintenance and cleaning services and will operate in addition to our regular landscaping, street sweeping and maintenance teams.

I'm not aware of any other Council offering a service such as this Spring Clean event. I am proud to be bringing initiatives such as these to our residents to keep the City clean, and to keep making Fairfield a great place to live.

Christmas-New Year Recycling Last Christmas-New Year, Council trialled an additional household recycling pick-up. This year every household will receive an additional recycling pick-up over the festive season.
