Exciting projects ahead in 2015-16

My key priority has been to contribute to the future of our City's infrastructure to provide residents with the opportunity to live, work and play in a better place.
The past year has been a big year for infrastructure improvements with the opening of the iconic Fairfield Adventure Park, bringing free Wi-Fi to all libraries, as well as upgrades to Bonnyrigg Park and more rollouts of CCTV.
This coming financial year promises to be an even bigger year of big investment, including the opening of the Fairfield Youth and Community Centre (pictured below), the much-anticipated Water Park at Prairiewood Leisure Centre and the expansion of the successful Fairfield Adventure Park to include an obstacle course and tree top walk.
Some additional projects include:
- Park upgrades in Mt Pritchard, Fairfield and Wilson Street Reserve including new walking paths;
- The installation of suburb banners;
- The continuation of the Cycleway-Shared Path Extension Program;
- Park frontage tree planting and major intersection landscaping;
- The completion of the Dutton Lane redevelopment;
- 20.4km of road upgrades or renewals, including an upgrade of the intersections at Hamilton Road, St Johns Road and John Street along the Cumberland Highway;
- Widening (to four lanes) of Wetherill Street in Smithfield between Polding Street and Victoria Street;
- 12.3km of new, renewal of, or upgrades to, footpaths throughout the City, including at Canley Heights, Bossley Park and Edensor Park;
- A new Fairfield City Centre Plaza in The Crescent;
- An upgrade to Cabramatta Town Centre; and
- Sportsfields upgrades
Council will also host the inaugural New Year's Eve fireworks event and install festive Christmas lighting across the City.
These long-term investments are creating a better place in which families can live.

The new Youth and Community Centre will be a fantastic resource for our residents.
