I am proud to officially open the new Dutton Lane car park in Cabramatta today.

This facility has been much anticipated by the community and has delivered an additional 275 new car spaces in Dutton Lane, increasing the overall parking in the Dutton Lane precinct to 880 spaces, and overall parking in the town centre to 3,293.

The two-story building connects to the existing multi-storey car park.

The car park is part of a wider redevelopment that is providing for the future growth of our City. The Dutton Lane precinct will also provide the community with new retail space and additional open space for cultural and entertainment activities.

Funded and owned by Council, the car park's income will be invested back into community projects to keep making Fairfield City a great place to live.

This development will revitalise Cabramatta and deliver a boost for local businesses. It will help visitors to experience all Cabramatta has to offer, including the amazing shopping and dining it has become famous for.

Council is investigating further expansion of the Dutton Lane car park after receiving approval for a height increase from the Department of Planning allowing for another level.

This is part of Council planning for the future needs of our City.

Flood clean-up for Fairfield residents

Council has been hard at work cleaning up debris and assisting flood affected residents to recover quickly after the recent storms that swept down the east coast.

Additional special rubbish collections were made available to affected residents and teams were out clearing mud and debris from streets, parks and open spaces.

I would like to sincerely thank the local volunteers from the SES, Fire Brigades and other emergency services including the Fairfield Local Area Command for your exceptional response to this event. Your dedication throughout last weekend to help protect local residents and community infrastructure shows the incredible community spirit we have here in Fairfield City.

I would also like to thank Cabra-Vale Diggers club who operated the evacuation centre and opened their doors to the community at a great time of need.
