I am so proud of all that we have achieved as a Council over the past four years.

The community has gained a number of new assets across the City with major investments in infrastructure that include 1,000 new car park spaces and upgraded parks. We also encouraged an active lifestyle for families by building Fairfield Adventure Park and Aquatopia, some of the best outdoor recreation facilities in South West Sydney.

I want our City to continue to prosper and evolve through further investment in exciting projects.

Last week, Council adopted the Draft 2017-2021 Delivery Program and Draft 2017–2018 Operational Plan that were on exhibition from 31 March to 5 May for community feedback and outlines Council's plans for the next four years.

I would like to thank everyone for contributing to this process

Part of our program for the coming year is the on-going planning for the transformation of Fairfield Showground into the premier community hub for festivals, events and sporting activities in South West Sydney. This will become a major new family attraction to the City.

Other highlights for 2017-18 include:

  • Dutton Plaza – start of detailed investigation leading to construction of an additional car park level over three years
  • Smithfield Road upgrade – upgrades of intersections and expanding parts of it to four lanes
  • Expansion of Aquatopia – expand facilities at the water park with new attractions
  • Bonnyrigg Town Centre Park – increase the number of car parking spaces

Another major focus for Council over the next 12 months is the renewal of footpaths and roads across the City. Council will lay close to 46km of new and upgraded footpaths and upgrade 78km of roads, as well as improving intersections and bike paths.

In addition to these projects, Council will continue to provide high quality services for our community such as aquatics, youth and leisure facilities, development planning and waste management and other programs.
