A safer Fairfield: CCTV rollout

I am committed to making all of Fairfield City a safer place for families.

Council is working with Fairfield residents, local police and businesses to ensure our City is safe and vibrant for all to enjoy. Our $1.4 million CCTV rollout is one of the steps we are taking to ensure it is a welcoming place to live, visit and do business in.

The CCTV program has been rolled out in a number of locations across our City throughout town centres and suburbs and will continue over the next year.

The current rollout is focusing on Fairfield Town Centre to complement existing installations across our suburbs, including our mobile CCTV cameras.

The CCTV program will also be expanded to include coverage of the new Fairfield Youth and Community Centre and Fairfield Adventure Park when they are completed.

The success of this program relies on strong partnerships and collaboration. Any CCTV system requires good policing and we are pleased to be working closely with Fairfield and Cabramatta Local Area Commands to deliver on this commitment not only in our town centres but also across our suburbs.

The Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave

I congratulate Deric Ly, Nick Huynh and Wendy Callander for participating and raising awareness about leukaemia.

I assisted in shaving their hair at Freedom Plaza, with a great crowd of local residents and businesses.

Fairfield City Council is proud to be involved and sponsored all three to assist them reaching their targets which they have all now exceeded!

So far, between the three of them, over $30,000 has been raised for the Leukaemia Foundation, which will provide emotional and practical support free of charge to people with blood cancers and to fund research.

Many local businesses and residents participated and donated, and should be proud of their contribution.
