Natural disaster relief available following floods and storms

Fairfield City residents and business owners impacted by this week's floods and storms can now apply for assistance through the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DFRA).

Fairfield City is one of 56 NSW councils that are eligible for assistance.

Assistance available under the DFRA may include:

  • Help for people whose homes or belongings have been damaged
  • Support for affected local councils to help with the cost of cleaning up and restoring damaged essential public assets
  • Concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and non-profit organisations
  • Freight subsidiaries for primary producers
  • Grants to eligible non-profit organisations.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone urged affected residents to take advantage of the available assistance.

"This week's weather and floods have impacted a number of homes in our City, as well as caused damage to parks, paths and other City assets," Mayor Carbone said.

"Council is hard at work cleaning and repairing our facilities, but we understand that it can be incredibly daunting for residents to clean up after floods and storms.

"I encourage affected residents to apply for the available disaster relief assistance."

A disaster Welfare Assistance Line is also available for affected residents who are uninsured and have low income – 1800 018 444.
