Fairfield City Centre will soon benefit from street lighting upgrades aiming to enhance the visitor experience at night, while ensuring improvements to safety and amenity.
Council is investing $100,000 in renewing lighting infrastructure along the Spencer Street corridor, and at key activity safety locations.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said improved lighting will provide a safer and more comfortable public domain for people to use after dark.
“Council recognises the importance of continued investment in our City’s night time economy to meet the emerging and future needs of our community,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Improved lighting will make places that are attractive by day remain safe and engaging after dark, encouraging people to stay longer, and improving retail trade.
“Improvements to infrastructure along with the planned upgrades will help position Fairfield City Centre as a thriving and inviting centre delivering a diverse day and night time offering to all.”
